Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker said he is open to the possibility of joining a global airline alliance. “Co-operating with airlines and feeding traffic into each other’s networks is always beneficial,” he said. “We haven’t been invited by anybody and if we are invited, yes, we would consider it in a positive way," he said. As previously reported, International Airlines Group (IAG) CEO Willie Walsh last week said he would be "amazed" if one of the Gulf carriers does not join a global airline alliance in 2012. He noted "it would be a healthy development" and "we have certainly discussed Gulf airline membership in oneworld at great length".
