International pax to/from Australia up 4.5% in Feb-2012, cargo up 14.3%


Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reports the following international traffic highlights to/from Australia in Feb-2012:
Passenger numbers: 2.2 million, +4.5% year-on-year;
o Available seats: 3.0 million, +2.1%;
o Flights: 12,275, +3.8%;
o Cargo volume: 67,249 tonnes, +14.3%;
o Aircraft movements: 12,914, +2.9%;

Share of passengers carried:
o Qantas: 18.9%, +0.4 ppt;
o Singapore Airlines: 9.1%, -0.2 ppt;
o Air New Zealand: 8.4%, -0.1 ppt;
o Emirates: 8.3%, +1.1 ppts;
o Jetstar: 7.9%, -0.2 ppt;
o Virgin Australia: 7.1%, +1.3 ppts;
o Cathay Pacific: 5.6%, +0.1 ppt;
o Malaysia Airlines: 3.8%, -0.4 ppt;
o Thai Airways: 3.4%, +0.2 ppt;
o China Southern Airlines: 2.2%, +0.4 ppt;

Share of cargo carried:
o Qantas: 18.8%, +1.8 ppts;
o Singapore Airlines: 14.3%, +0.8 ppt;
